27 Jun, 2023

On Friday 23 June 2023, the school had a 60th-anniversary Quiz Night on campus as a way of celebrating the school’s 60 years of existence. This successful event was fully supported by a number of sponsors, and the WK community, including parents, alums, and staff.

The venue, Waterford’s Centre for Creative Learning and Development (CCLD), was packed. The tables were occupied by participants who formed teams and had a chance to decide on their team names. The host was John Storer, the College’s Admissions Director and University Adviser who gave the teams general questions which had rounds from the late 1960s to the early 20s including bonus rounds.

During the event, the participants had a chance to enjoy wonderful performances of 60th Anniversary-themed compositions by Mark Bradshaw, a beautiful rendition of Brenda Fassie’s “Vulindlela” song by Sabusiswa Nxumalo (Eswatini, WK 16 – 22), and classical music by Elijah Eze. The night was not only about answering questions but gave an opportunity for Waterford alumni to reconnect and spent time together over food and drinks.

At the end of the Quiz Night, the prizes were awarded to the highest-scoring teams which were:

  • 1st Place - Detained Cultured Grooviest
  • 2nd Place - Better late than never
  • 3rd Place - The legacy

The prices were brought to them by the quiz night sponsors:
