The optometrist taking students through the eye testing workshop8 Feb, 2018

On Wednesday the 7th of February 2018 some Waterford students participated in bee keeping and eye testing workshops.  The bee keeping workshop is part of the school’s ongoing bee keeping Comserve. The workshop was led by Kathy Gau and the students discussed many aspects of beekeeping and learned many new things. They also went to the hives and have made plans for their continued work on this project.

IB2 students who will be part of the Vision Comserve had a training workshop on eye testing. The workshop was led by an optometrist who has partnered with the school for many years. They learned all the techniques needed to test the eye sight of young children and spent some time practising on each other. They will shortly begin visiting schools to carry out basic eye screening. Any issues that they pick up on will then be referred to the optometrist who will examine the child's eyes further and then prescribe the necessary treatment which is usually glasses.
