A Big Thank You!

The Form 5 class of 2017 had a marvelous graduation ceremony last Friday, the 10th of November 2017. The event was held in the school assembly hall, followed by a dinner at Sibane hotel for all the form 5s and their teachers. I would like to thank the teachers, parents and students who worked really hard to make this event a success. For more information about the ceremony, please click here.

Welcome to Waterford

Today marks the eve of two important events in the 2017 calendar; we have our Governing Council meeting starting tomorrow and ending on Sunday. We also have the IB graduation ceremony which is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha, starting at 5:30 pm. I therefore welcome the many guests who are visiting Waterford for these events. Among them is Michael Jarvis who has been treasurer and trustee of the UK charity, Waterford School Trust, for over 40 years and has seen over £5 million pass through its accounts since 2000 for the benefit of Waterford. He arrived last night and he will be leaving Swaziland on Monday morning. His profile can be found here.

Congratulations IB2 Class of 2017

Tomorrow we have the IB2 Graduation Ceremony at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha, starting at 5:30 pm. The event will include presentation of certificates, musical performances and speeches. Once again, let me congratulate our IB2 class of 2017 for such a remarkable milestone. The graduating class comprises 120 students representing 40 nationalities. The final IB2 graduation programme has been uploaded on the school website.

Alumni Avenue Table at IB Graduation

To the parents of graduating students, Waterford Kamhlaba has the pleasure to give your child an opportunity to leave a legacy on campus through our Alumni Avenue project. With a minimum donation of ZAR1500, £90, $110, €100 we will place a glass brick with a name of your child engraved on it in the Alumni Avenue. While away from Waterford campus, the student can always look back with pride, knowing that his/her name is forever etched on the walls of the school. If you are interested in donating, our Advancement Office team will be conveniently located at the registration table at the graduation venue.

Graduation Policy (After Parties)

I urge our parents to read and become familiar with our Graduation event policy. Although we are not involved in any way whatsoever, the school is aware of after parties that are sometimes organized by students during this time. I want to make it very clear that Waterford will not be part of these after party celebrations and that no Waterford staff will be in attendance. At the end of the official graduation ceremony, transport will be available for students who are returning to hostel. The policy can be found here.

We wish to remind parents that the end of the term is upon us, and wish to remind all parents that by now all fees should have been settled. As frequently mentioned, our books close at the end of October, however we do still have some outstanding fees which need to be in before the end of the term. We wish to re-iterate that we do not carry arrears forward from one year into the next. Any outstanding fees could result in your child being withdrawn for the new year. Please note that once a student is removed from our register you would need to go through the process of applying for admission again and we cannot guarantee we would have an available place for him/her. Reports, result access passwords and university assistance could also be withheld until all fees have been settled and unpaid fees could result in being handed over for collection.
