The 2018 UWC Day, held on Saturday the 7th of
April, was an amazing event, with great performances and nice traditional foods
across different stalls.
The day started with an exciting assembly where there were
musical performances by marimba group, school choir, Burundian dance, gumboot
dance, poetry, Swazi dance and others. There was also the parade of nations
whereby the students from different countries introduced themselves and lifted
up their flags. The guest speaker, Michael Attenborough, spoke at length about
the theme, “Freedom is…” unpacking the essence of freedom for everyone.
After assembly, most people left for the sport field where
there were stalls selling some traditional foods from different countries.
Performances also continued at the Academic Square where people got further
entertainment.
